Who knows what is good or bad?
We celebrate our wins and shun our failures.
But here’s the thing: Good and bad experiences always contain the seeds for their opposite.
Something good happens, but it opens us up to potential new dangers and harms.
Something terrible happens, and it sets in motion a series of events. Turns out to be the best thing to ever happen to us.
I’m not trying to rain on your parade, here. I’m not promulgating some gloomy, pessimistic outlook.
It’s just the way it goes.
So what does this mean for us? How does knowing this change things?
When everything is going well, enjoy and appreciate the wins. Don’t take it for granted. It may not be smooth sailing forever.
Don’t overreach or overestimate your good fortune. Instead, stay conscious and diligent.
And when things go wrong, don’t despair. All things change.
Be ready. Stay centered.
Watch for the lesson…
…and reveal the opportunities.
The tides of fortunes will always turn. Prepare and ride that wave when it comes.
